GCV Sunday Pennant 2025
Hi GCV Pennant golfers,
Well, it’s just over two weeks until the new Pennant season starts on Sunday February 9. Thanks to all GCV clubs who responded promptly to requests to host Sunday Pennant this year, so that we could finalise the fixtures.
As a result of having a bye in Division 1, the GCV Pennant Match Committee adopted a suggestion to give a one-off opportunity to some promising young golfers from the Bendigo Sports Academy program which is conducted under the guidance of Kris Mueck. Apart from fast tracking some of these future stars into Division 1 Pennant, it also means there will no longer be a bye in this division.
Each week there will be three venues with Divisions 1 and 2 at one venue, Division 3 alone at another venue and two Open Divisions at the third venue.
Changes to conditions that players should be aware of are:
Division 2 returns to the previous format whereby players below 5 daily handicap will give shots to the bottom of the handicap range (5) or their opponents handicap, whichever is the lower. The same rule applies to Division 3 where the bottom of the handicap range is 10. Division 1 is off scratch with no shots given and Open division shots are given according to players daily handicaps. The other adjustment which also applied last year, is that matches that end all square after 18 holes will be counted as a tie and 0.5 points awarded to each team. i.e., no need to continue on until a result is achieved.
You can see the season’s fixtures in the attached Sunday Pennant draw, but we look forward to seeing you all on February 9 at Bendigo (Division 1 & 2), Neangar Park (Division 3) and Kyneton (Open Divisions A & B).
